Vic: Armadale rapist jailed again
One of Victoria's most notorious rapists has been handed a fresh six-year jail termfor his latest offences against children.
Judge CAROLYN DOUGLAS jailed 39-year MARK ANTHONY JEWELL for six years with a minimumof five years for sex offences against children and for a series of burglaries and theftsof clothing, bags and sports equipment from several Melbourne girls schools.
JEWELL, formerly of suburban Kew, pleaded guilty to all offences which included twocounts of committing an indecent act on a child under 16 and one of committing an indecentact in the presence of a child under 16.
JEWELL, dubbed the Armadale rapist, was jailed for 16 years in March 1990 after pleadingguilty to a series of violent sex attacks on women and girls.
After his release on parole in December 1998, he reoffended and was sentenced to afurther 18 months.
He was again freed in December 2001 and committed the latest offences in June last year.
