NSW: Carr flags second airport at Hunter Valley

SYDNEY, Feb 28 AAP - New South Wales Premier Bob Carr today said that state and federal
governments were working on a proposal for a privately funded airport in the state's Hunter
Valley.

Mr Carr's comments throw up yet another alternative to Sydney's Badgerys Creek as the site
of the city's second international airport.

A draft Environmental Impact Statement on the Badgerys Creek site, favoured by the federal
government was released in 1997.

An independent audit report released last year identified serious flaws in the draft.
